How to Stay Positive

I was thinking a lot the last few days how there’s always positives we can find during challenging times like these. We just have to look for them. This is a picture from the last two days I spent in Utrecht. I had to wait for my flight out of the Netherlands and there was nothing to do. Everything shut down the day after our training finished. We were so lucky that we were able to finish the training. I decided to take a bicycle ride and explore the city. It was so beautiful. Utrecht is a really special place. I will post some more pics and some videos I took on the bicycle to my story. I am excited to go back and spend more time there when all this craziness is over. I had a lot of time to think and contemplate on the bicycle too and also when I stopped to take breaks. And I noticed during these two days a lot of people posting on social media about all the positive things that are happening in their communities and ways people are stepping up and helping out during this challenging time. It’s beautiful to see. It’s inspiring. The silver lining is there. You just have to look for it. I’m glad that during this challenging time I’ll be able to spend some extra time with my dad in Canada. No hugs or handshakes, but it will be nice to see him and know that he’s not far away and that he’s okay. Here’s some other things I’m going to do to stay balanced over the next two weeks:
1. Only check the news once a day.
2. Take a moment every morning to think of something positive.
3. Reach out to one person to check in on how they are doing. And just listen.
4. Offer to help one person every day. How could I get involved and who needs help in my community?
5. No venting on social media. No complaining. I don’t want to spread that energy around. Everyone is doing the best they can with the tools they have.
6. Practice. I’m going to keep doing my daily asana practice. Move your body. Even if it’s just a few sun salutations everyday. It will help.
7. Do my meditation practice. Even if it’s hard to concentrate.
8. Read a good book.
9. Trust. Trust that this will pass and we will get through this. It will be okay.
10. Stay positive.
