Yogis! I just had another article published in this month’s LA YOGA Magazine. Thank you to Felicia Marie Tomasko for all your support, your wonderful editing, and for including me in this month’s issue.
This article is about the importance of Savasana and the purpose of the Final Resting Pose in Yoga.
You can check it out online at:

Or, pick up a copy of LA YOGA Magazine at your yoga studio, local coffee shop,...etc.
Savasana is one of the most, if not the most important poses in our yoga practice. Have a look at the article and let me know what you think. I hope you enjoy it! Namaste.
Some additional information about Savasana is below…
When you study yoga philosophy you will see many comparisons between the yoga experience and death. Our practice is filled with symbols. What is the significance of death in yoga? When you experience the state of Samadhi it is as if for a moment there is no body, no mind, no thoughts, no ego. It’s like for a moment these layers have been peeled off and you get to experience what is left over. What is left over? The yogis would say, ‘You’. This is not unlike when we experience death. What if you could have the experience of death while still being alive? What if you could experience the deepest part of yourself, without all the other layers covering you? This part of you that the yogis call the “Self”, Purusha — the part of you that is pure consciousness, pure awareness. This is the yoga experience. Savasana begins the process for most of us of turning inward and letting go of the outer world, leaving behind the outer world and the body. This is the beginning of our experience of meditation — pratyahara or sense withdrawal. Let go of the outer world and turn inward. Are you ready to peel back the layers and experience the deepest part of yourself? Are you ready for death? Breathe into the unknown and let go.
