The Botanical Garden in Guangzhou.

Yoga Journal China wanted to do a profile video with me. The theme of our shoot is the connection between hiking and nature, and yoga.
I got to do some hiking at the garden and we filmed some of my practice in some of the more open areas. It was so beautiful. I recorded voice over for the video and we did an interview as well. I talked a little bit about how we use form in yoga to experience formlessness. The way to experience consciousness is through the manifestation of consciousness.
It’s just like when we are out in nature. It’s through the experience of nature that we get to feel a deeper connection to the source of that creation. This is one of the reasons I love being in nature; hiking, walking by the beach, or in the forest.
It’s the same on your yoga mat. You have an object of concentration but eventually that object disappears and you experience a deeper connection to something beyond that physical shape, or pattern or color.
You can check out the interview and the video at Magpaper. Magpaper is available at Yoga Journal’s Official Account. Learn more about your favorite teacher and some of the things they like to do off the yoga mat and what yoga means to them. It’s a cool project! I’m not sure mine will be up for a few weeks but check back in the new year!
Thank you to the YJ team for this really fun experience!
