Fire Ceremony and Cleansing Ritual during my Shiva Yoga 200hr RYT Teacher Training Program last month. What are you ready to let go of and release? What are you ready to leave behind? What are you holding onto? What is holding you back? What are you ready to burn in the fire?
The tapas in yoga practice brings things to the surface — so we can look at them and let them go. What comes up for you in your practice? What bubbles to the surface when you are in the fire? Stay present. Look at your mind. Look at your thoughts. How do you distract yourself? How do you avoid things?
Patanjali describes the patterns of the mind in three stages — the first stage is when we are caught up in the pattern but we are not even aware that we are caught up, the second stage is when we become aware of the pattern but we are unable to let go of it, and the third stage is when the pattern comes to the surface and we look at it and we are finally able to let it go.
What are your patterns? What is your practice bringing to the surface for you?
I participated in my first Fire Ceremony and Cleansing Ritual over 15 yrs ago. I thought the ceremony was weird. Lol. I had a lot of fear and resistance. It was like the first time we did the ‘Om’ in a class. Lol. My yoga practice has helped me to slowly let go of my fear and move through my resistance.
It’s time to move forward. It’s time to let go of the things that are holding you back. It will never be the perfect time. Your ducks will never line up in a perfect row. This growth thing is messy. You have to get your feet wet. You have to get a little dirty.
