When I first started practicing yoga I fell in love with how different the practice was to everything else I was doing. I remember sitting at the end of class in stillness and my mind was quiet and I felt a deeper connection to myself than ever before. It was so cool! I wanted to learn more! What were we doing in the practice that was giving me this experience? It wasn’t until I dove deeper into teacher training and learned more about the practice when I learned this was the goal of yoga. On the outside it looks like exercise and a number of other modalities designed to condition the body. But if you are practicing yoga the goal is what you experience on the inside — stillness and peace of mind. And when you experience this deeper connection to yourself in stillness — its profound. It’s like nothing else and it quite literally blows your mind!
